For Thanksgiving myself and Katie went to her tutors house in the Haptons. This was a lovley occasion and we felt like family. The Hamptons is a beautiful countryside area and we had a great chance to relax.
Thanksgiving is very big in America. It is an occasion where all the family get together and I really feel I had a true thanksgiving experiance. We started it by seeing the floats be blown up outside th Natural hitsory museum the night before. I was suprised by the amount of commercial floats there was and it didn't seem to be about tradition rather favourties kids cartoons.
The strangest dish we had for Thanksgiving was sweet potatoe slices with marshmallows on the top. This seems to be an American tradition as all our friends experianced this too.
I'm a first year student studying Textiles BA at Chelsea College of Art and Design. I did my Art foundation at the London College of Fashion and it was there that I decided textiles was right for me!

A little bit of Boston
We took a trip to Boston for one night staying in a hostel. This was great to get out of the city and see another state of America. Boston is quite an English city and it doesn't have the skyscrapers on New York, instead cobbled streets and small alleyways.
Swatching and haute Couture
Quite a few times a week we found ourselves in fabric shops swatching and reseraching. This was great because we came familuar with the fabric and which shop sold what.
Elegant fabrics, on 40th between 7th and 8th is the best place for swatching fabrics because they have pre made swatches which you can take without bothering an employee.
Tuva Textiles on the same street gives good discount to pretty ladies which a great bargin basket selectio of offcuts and Mood on 37th in regarded as one of the best selection of fabrics but the empolyees can be quite snobby.
Each fabric store has its own policy on fabric swatching and students so you have to make sure you go at the right time to get a good service.
Above are some hand made flowers made by our Haute Couture teacher. We had to complete alot of flowers which was fun but very time consuming.
